Townsend discloses for the first time today how the gruelling eight-hour operation has given her new hope after having to endure regular dialysis for the past two years.

The transplant, however, was not without complications. Townsend’s body initially rejected the donor kidney and a subsequent infection forced the 63-year-old author to return to hospital 17 times in the space of a week. Sean, the eldest of Townsend’s four children, volunteered to go under the knife when his mother’s two “dud” kidneys were on the brink of failure because of her long-term diabetes. She had been on a waiting list for a transplant for two years, but no other suitable donor emerged.

We moved house last weekend, and I have to say I HATE MOVING! OMG! I never knew I had so much crap! I tossed out loads of stuff and yet I still had way too much, so as I am unpacking I am still getting rid of things I have no use for.
My Hubby was getting mad at me for not getting rid of many books but I find it so difficult to get rid of books, what if I want to read them again or recommend them to a friend??
And to be honest I am not sure what I should do about my Craft Stash! I have way to much but it is so difficult to part with any of it though I know I really should, I guess
it is time to admit I have a Stash Problem! LOL!

So Goldy dons chef's whites and goes undercover at the spa, where coffee is outlawed in favor of calming smoothies, and the fruit cocktail doesn't include fresh fruit. Add in the obstreperous owner, who years ago tried to sabotage Goldy's fledgling business, and she's got her hands full.

Above all, there seems to be a clever killer on the spa grounds, watching her every move. After what befell Jack, Goldy knows that she might be next. Catering weddings, and cooking low-fat food, could be killing her - literally.

I had to read this book when I was in High School, and I remember I loved it, I recently found out there are other books in this series, I always thought it was just the one book, so I have my local library searching for copies of the rest of the books in this series, for now I am reading Across The Barricades again, the funny thing is my husband said he also read this book when he was in High School!

At the end of this tragic story Mr Blake dies. A killer throws a bomb into his house. Kevin feels depressed and guilty, so he decides to leave the city for another place to live. Sadie follows him secretly… On the ferry to England they find each other again.

A while ago I was reading a book called... Bitter Blood, By Jerry Bledsoe. And my father in law was visiting, he was looking at my book and said, "You do know this book is about a family member of my family?" I jusdt looked at him, the woman who comitted all the murdefs in the book is a relative of my father in law! Not one he personally knows, but he has met her at family reunions, in the early 70's.

Shortly after I moved to Greensboro in 1985, a tragedy unfolded. A single mother, her male cousin, and her two little boys were killed when the truck in which they were riding exploded. The explosion came at the end of a low-speed chase.

The "chase" began in an apartment complex that adjoined the residence hotel in which my husband and I were temporarily residing. We were out of town when this happened, but the news reached us 500 miles away, with chilling video footage from the intersection nearest our temporary home. From the day I heard the news of the bizarre deaths in Greensboro to the present, this story has fascinated and sickened me.

The investigation was followed closely by local news reporter Jerry Beldsoe, who ran a very detailed series about the case in the Greensboro News and Record. I believe his series was the best example of investigative reporting the News and Record has ever published.

These four deaths, we soon discovered, were the last four in series of nine deaths.

Jerry Bledsoe eventually left the newspaper to focus on writing Bitter Blood, which told this story. Later made into a TV movie, Bitter Blood is one of the most haunting true crime stories I've ever read.

Background

Susie Sharp Newsom Lynch was the divorced mother of two young boys. She was living with her first cousin, Fritz Klenner, in an apartment in Greensboro, North Carolina. Her ex-husband, living in New Mexico, was seeking full custody of the children, convinced that their living arrangement was dangerous. He had observed odd behavior in his children, changes in their demeanors, and was alarmed by stories they told about activites with Klenner. Susie was estranged from her own family, who may have been supporting her ex-husband in his action, and she, Klenner and the boys were apparently living in their own little world.

Susie's former mother-in-law and sister-in-law were murdered in their home in Kentucky. Not long after that, Susie's parents and grandmother were murdered in their Winston-Salem home. Klenner became the prime suspect for the Winston-Salem murders, then when a tie to the Kentucky murders was found he became the prime suspect for those as well. Police from both states moved slowly, trying to protect Susie and her boys while keeping Klenner under surveillance.

Story Telling

Jerry Bledsoe's book digs deep, deep into the crimes, deep into the investigations, and deep into the history and behaviors minds of Susie and Fritz. The result is chilling and disturbing. As the story unfolds, Bledsoe combines documented history with supposition to explain gaps and inconsistencies, and also to explore the unanswered questions which remain. His examination of Fritz Klenner and a young man he befriended is chilling.

This is an excellent true crime story, told with emotion and clarity, suspense and revelation. A true tragedy, Bledsoe examines the loose ends, the conflicting stories, and speculates as to the final answers.

The tragedy, especially for the two lost boys and their father, is that those answers may never been found.

I bought one from Indigo Books a few years ago, and since then I have had to buy a few more and a few more, I read so fast that I fill them up in a few months sometimes in only a few weeks! Dependng on how big they are. I keep a small one in my handbag at all times with just a list of books I have read each month so I have it on hand all the time :) Plus at the back of it I list new books I want to buy or read, it depends how fast the library gets new books in sometimes I just can't wait to read a book and I give in and buy it no matter what the cost, (Thank goodness for credit cards ) LOL!

Considering I was at a class yesterday about learning to write your own story.. and I have another class on Wed night about publishing your book.. My plan is to write my own story and also do a childrens book... not so much to be published...But for myself , to get some closure to the Sexual Abuse I dealt with as a child... as for the childrens books I just want to do them as I have always written and told my own stories to the children I look after so putting them in a book one day is something I would like to do, I don't think I would go the route to get a agent I think I would do self publish.. But hey ya never know maybe someone will see them and tell me how GREAT they are! LOL!

As a child I loved books by Enid Blyton, I have recently started collecting any I can find online and in secondhand book stores, my collection is getting pretty big.

The other day at the Library I heard a lady asking if the library had any Secret Seven Books By Enid Blyton and the reply she got shocked me!.. She was told that that Author is Racist and we do not carry her books,... so of course I had to ask WHY?? And I was told she mentions Gollywogs in her books.... now I ask you making i comments about a childs TOY(That is what a Gollywog is) is not racist??? Yes I know the term Gollywog can be taken as racist, but that does depend on the way the word is used, there are many books that use words that are truly racist and I know the library still carries those authors books.. I am a little ticked off with the comment about Enid Blyon and it upsets me that people can not see past how a word is actually used and them judge all the authors work as racist.. It is sad to think this sort of thing is still happening in todays world.

I have actually added a Fave Author list on the side bar of the blog but will keep this post so my friends can also post who they like to read, I hopefully will remember to add new Authors as I come across more that I like to read, there are so many new wonderful Authors out there right now.
