Murder at Marble House By Alyssa Maxwell

Murder at Marble House (Gilded Newport Mysteries, #2)Murder at Marble House by Alyssa Maxwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an advance copy of this book from the Author, (thank you Alyssa Maxwell) this is the second book in a wonderful new series. After starting this book, I felt like I was visiting and old friend, I'm sure I could hang out with the main character Emma Cross and help her solve any Murders that she becomes involved in. The detail that the Author goes into to describe places and characters, really helps you step back in time and truly feel that you are right there watching it all play out. I can't wait for the next book in this series to come out.

It is so difficult living here in Port Hardy as I can't get the new books by the Authors I read as I guess they are not so well known Authors or a still pretty new so the bookstore up here doesn't get them in :(

Stitch and sleuth in the third delightful knitting mystery from the author of Patterns in the Sand.

In the quaint fishing village of Sea Harbor, Massachusetts, the Seaside Knitters are always looking for a new project. Their latest is helping their friend Gracie Santos open the Lazy Lobster and Soup Café on Pelican Pier. But they get sidetracked when Gracie's aunt Sophia goes flying off the cliff in her red Ferrari-and it was no accident. As gossip builds, and rumors circulate, the Seaside Knitters must stitch together the clues if they're to understand a killer's strange pattern.

Description
Knit Purl Die
Counting on each other...

Meet the Black Sheep knitters -- five smart, funny
women who love to knit, gossip, and solve crimes.

Gloria Sterling had it all -- money, looks, and a new sexy young husband. So when she's found floating face down in her own swimming pool, shock waves ripple through tiny Plum Harbor. At the Black Sheep Knitting Shop, Maggie Messina and her circle are devastated to lose their dear friend -- a woman as colorful as her fabulous yarn creations.

The police are quick to call it an accident, but sorting out Gloria's final hours leaves too many loose ends to satisfy her friends. The vivacious, fiftysomething cougar had her French manicured tips in more than a few pots, and the threads of some inside deals stashed in her chic knitting tote.

Who was the last person to see Gloria alive on that quiet summer night? Two empty wine glasses suggest she wasn't home alone knitting the entire evening.... The Black Sheep need to know the truth and set out to unravel -- stitch by stitch -- the weighty secrets that pulled poor Gloria under.

While My Pretty One Knits

Description

The Black Sheep Knitters -- Maggie, Lucy, Dana, Suzanne, and Phoebe -- meet once a week without fail, sharing the varied and colorful skeins of their lives as much as knitting tips, recipes, and small-town gossip, and creating an intricate, durable pattern of friendship. Now a shocking murder has peaceful Plum Harbor, Massachusetts, in knots -- and the Black Sheep women must herd together to protect one of their own from a scandalous frame-up.

Maggie Messina, beloved owner of the Black Sheep Knitting Shop, is thrilled to be hosting a workshop for one of her former students, now a celebrity in the knitting world. But the celebration is upstaged when Amanda Goran, the owner of the rival Knitting Nest, is found dead in her shop on the other side of town.

Maggie had reasons to dislike Amanda, a thorn in her side ever since Maggie's shop surpassed Amanda's in popularity. Then again, it wasn't hard to dislike Amanda -- the contentious woman, whose marriage was on the rocks, seemed to specialize in causing misery all over town. But the pointed evidence has a detective casting a suspicious eye on Maggie. She may be a whiz at knitting, but can she keep the police from needling her before her shop, her reputation, and her circle of friends become unraveled?

next book is
A Stitch Before Dying but it is not avaliable yet.

The newest installment in the series, with knitting patterns and recipes included!

Fall has come to Fort Connor, Colorado, and the cool air has inspired the knitters at the House of Lambspun to start on their hats and mittens. It's also brought an influx of students to the university town-and into the shop for knitting classes. Kelly Flynn is happy to teach them the tricks of the trade-until one of them is found dead on the river trail near Kelly's house. Compelled to investigate, Kelly finds herself following a path that twists more easily than the yarn with which she knits. Knowing the killer could be close, Kelly must work fast to unravel the skein of this crime.

CASTING SPELLS
Tongue-in-cheek humor lifts this weird but fun hybrid, part knitting cozy, part paranormal romance, from romance veteran Bretton (Just Desserts). After a classy female tourist drowns mysteriously in an icy lake in remote Sugar Maple, Vt., the Montpelier authorities ask Boston homicide cop Luke MacKenzie to investigate. As Sugar Maple's temporary police chief, Luke soon notices the village's odd ambience. Originally a haven for witches who fled the Salem witchcraft trials three centuries earlier, Sugar Maple is now home to witches, vampires, fairies and trolls. Luke is also attracted to Chloe Hobbs, the half-human owner of the knitting shop Sticks & Strings, who must find Mr. Right if she's to preserve the spell that sustains the town's unusual residents. As sparks literally fly between the two, Chloe's "magickal" side stirs into life. Bretton charmingly depicts how love empowers Chloe and awakens Luke to some major surprises.

I LOVED the first book... Casting Spells and have been waiting for the 2nd book to come out, and yesterday I came across it at Chapters Book Store so of course I bought it :) I plan to read this book next!

Thursdays at Eight by Debbie Macomber

Every Thursday at eight, four women meet for breakfast--and to talk. To tell their stories, recount their sorrows and their joys. To offer each other encouragement and unstinting support.

Clare has just been through a devastating divorce. She's driven by anger and revenge ... until she learns something about her ex-husband that forces her to look deep inside for the forgiveness and compassion she's rejected--and for the person she used to be.

Elizabeth is widowed, in her late fifties, a successful professional--a woman who's determined not to waste another second of her life. And if that life should include romantic possibilities--well, why not?

Karen is in her twenties, the years for taking risks, testing your dreams. Her dream is to be an actor. So what if her parents think she should be more like her sister, the very respectable Victoria?

Julia is turning forty this year. Her husband's career is established, her kids are finally in their teens and she's just started her own business. Everything's going according to plan--until she gets pregnant!
